Educational Trip – Washington DC Zoo
June 5 @ 7:00 am - 5:00 pm
As part of our GED program, participants will take an educational trip to the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C. This visit is designed to reinforce key concepts from the GED curriculum in an engaging, hands-on environment.
During the trip, participants will explore exhibits that support science instruction, particularly in life science topics such as ecosystems, animal behavior, and conservation. They’ll practice reading comprehension by analyzing informational signage and exhibit descriptions, and apply critical thinking through guided discussions and observation-based activities.
Following the visit, participants will complete writing and reflection exercises, helping them strengthen skills in evidence-based writing and analysis—important components of the GED test. The experience will also promote curiosity, communication, and exposure to career paths in science and environmental fields.
This trip aims to make learning more meaningful by connecting classroom content to the world around us.
